Creating a database in Microsoft Access was an enjoyable process that helped me develop skills such as database design, query building, pivot table creation, and use of Microsoft Access. The goal of this project was to create a database that could help a potential client organize her start-up tutoring business. This database is designed to help the owner of the tutoring business organize client information, hired tutor information, amount owed by clients, and commission. If I were to do this project again, I would be more careful with handling the details along the way. For example, I due to an extra space after some of the names, the database was unable to calculate Client ID properly. Had I been more vigilant the first time through I would have been able to complete the project in a more timely manner. Additionally, I would think through how to specifically tailor the design of the database for my client through asking questions and getting an understanding of the specific needs of the client. Overall, this project was enjoyable and helped me to grow tremendously in skills such as Microsoft Access usage, data organization, and simple coding.
